Dr Michael Turner is the Medical Director and CEO of The International Concussion and Head Injury Research Foundation (ICHIRF) and has raised over $2 million for this project to date. ICHIRF was founded on St George’s Day 2015 (23rd April) and is undertaking research into the possible long-term effects of concussion amongst retired sportsmen and women. Dr Turner is an Honorary Associate Professor at University College London (UCL), was a co-author of the Concussion Consensus statements published in 2014 and 2017 (British Journal of Sports Medicine) and is part of the Concussion in Sport Group for the 2020/21 revision of the Consensus Statement. He regularly lectures on concussion and is a keynote speaker at the IOC Prevention of Injury and Illness in Sport Conference being held in Monte Carlo in February 2021 (one of only 5 keynote speakers). Dr Turner lectures and travels extensively and the scientific committee of ICHIRF includes some of the foremost experts in the field of concussion research.
